How to Journal NinjaTrader Trades with Screenshots or Exports
Journal NinjaTrader (NT) futures from chart screenshots or a CSV/export file. TradeLogger has no NinjaTrader API. Confirm fields, tag the New York session, and review in R.

Quick answer
TradeLogger does not sync NinjaTrader through an API. Journal from a NinjaTrader chart screenshot (upload, confirm drafted fields, tag setup and session) or from an export you type or paste into an editable row. Reconcile fills against NinjaTrader’s own trade history. Optional OANDA and cTrader connections do not read NinjaTrader accounts.
NinjaTrader is a common execution and charting desk for US index futures. TradeLogger does not offer a NinjaTrader broker API. Journal the decision the same way other unsupported platforms work: screenshot the chart, confirm the drafted row, add tags, or type from an export. This how-to sits under TradingView, OANDA, and cTrader journal integrations and the foundational guide to trading journals.
What does TradeLogger actually do with NinjaTrader?
- Screenshot upload: vision drafts symbol, direction, prices, and notes from the image; you confirm before save.
- Manual or export-assisted row: you enter fills from NinjaTrader history when the chart is incomplete.
- No NinjaTrader OAuth, no Rithmic passthrough, no automatic order stream.
- Optional OANDA and cTrader links do not see a NinjaTrader account.
How do you journal a NinjaTrader trade from a screenshot?
- Open the NinjaTrader chart that shows the setup, invalidation, and fill context.
- Keep instrument, timeframe, and price scale visible. Crop account numbers.
- Upload the image in TradeLogger and wait for drafted fields.
- Verify symbol, side, entry, stop, size, timestamps, and result against NinjaTrader history.
- Tag setup, New York (or the session you actually traded), emotion, and whether the plan was followed.
- Convert stop distance to dollars with the ES/NQ tick-value calculator when you size in ticks.
How do you use a NinjaTrader export without treating it as the whole journal?
An execution export is a fill log. Use it to catch missing trades and exact prices. It will not store the chart you traded or the reason you entered. Pair each comparable fill with a screenshot and the same tag vocabulary you use for discretionary review. If the export and the screenshot disagree, NinjaTrader history wins for fills; the chart wins for context.
Which fields matter for US futures on NinjaTrader?
- Contract (ES, MES, NQ, MNQ, or other) and number of contracts.
- Session: New York cash hours vs overnight. Do not dump both into one “day” tag.
- Stop in ticks and dollars. Standard CME ticks: ES $12.50, MES $1.25, NQ $5.00, MNQ $0.50.
- Planned R vs realized R, including commissions if you review net.
- If you are on a prop evaluation, remaining daily-loss and trailing-drawdown headroom copied from the firm dashboard — see the futures prop trailing-drawdown checklist.
If the evaluation is Topstep or Apex, journal the NinjaTrader (or Tradovate) chart here and keep official limits on the firm’s site: how to track a Topstep evaluation, how to track an Apex evaluation. Cluster: passing prop firm evaluation rules with journals.
Frequently asked questions
Does TradeLogger have a NinjaTrader API?+
No. There is no NinjaTrader connector in the product. Use a chart screenshot or a file/export you confirm by hand.
How do you journal NinjaTrader ES or NQ trades?+
Capture the chart you actually traded, confirm symbol, side, prices, size, and result, then convert stop distance with standard CME ticks (ES $12.50, MES $1.25, NQ $5.00, MNQ $0.50). Tag the session as New York when that is when you traded.
Can I import a NinjaTrader CSV instead of a screenshot?+
You can use an export as a fill list, then create or edit journal rows so each fill has a chart and tags. An export is not a complete discretionary journal by itself.
Does cTrader or OANDA sync replace NinjaTrader journaling?+
No. Those optional connections are for OANDA and cTrader accounts only.
